How to cross from Israel to Jordan  (or Jordan to Israel)

  • From Eilat you really need to take an Israeli taxi, on the meter (ask the driver if that will include your luggage or not). The fare is approx 25 to 30 NIS from Eilat bus station to the Yitzhak Rabin border, leading into Aqaba.
  • Plan B: If you get off your bus at the The Yitzhak Rabin Terminal border bus stop, it is just before Kibbutz Eilot (before the bus finally arrives into Eilat). You can get off at a junction* from where you could walk from that main road to the border.
  • If you have planned to do this make sure (a) you have told the bus driver well beforehand, and (b) that you have your luggage easily accessible, to extract from the hold of the bus.
  • It’s a long 2-3 km very hot walk from the main road, to the Yitzhak Rabin border. So make sure you have enough water

How to cross from Eilat airport to the Jordan border

  • The border crossing was located a 5-minute, ILS30 ($8) taxi ride from Eilat’s airport. Upon arrival, we observed a series of low buildings, including a WC (there is one on each side of the border). There was also a much-appreciated cold-water fountain on the Israeli side. There were no ATMs.
  • At “Yitzhak Rabin Terminal”one-page  general information sheet in English that explained passport and visa requirements, along with a list of fees and Customs rules (e.g., “It is strictly forbidden to import to Jordan drinking water, food,…”).
  • At the first stop we each paid an exit fee of ILS 100 along with a commission of ILS3 (total, about $27 each), cash only. Receipts were provided which were needed at the next stop, where our passports were stamped.
  • Then we walked about 100 meters across a no-man’s-land to Jordan border . There was a rather cursory luggage inspection and we turned in our passports. here where our team will meet you.
  • Tipping

It is a customary attitude for expressing ones satisfaction of good services rendered to him by staff on duty with him. We advise if you are willing to offer it, this would be great and if not, you are not obliged to do it
